Kurt Rademaker coming in at number 3 made 60 runs on a wet & drying pitch which gave the Pacific bowlers - all 8 of them - something to bowl at. Earlier the incessant rain had seen the cup match curtailed from 50 overs a side to 35 & despite some quick fire scoring, Pacific's batters kept getting themselves out. The 53 runs partnership Rob Bastin & Kurt put on for the 4th wicket was Pacific's best but once Rob was out the innings fell away against Narwaz Ali Pur's big turning off spin. Sadly the innings petered out from 87-3 to 141 all out & with 23 balls unused. A strong reply was required, although the pitch & outfield had dried out, there was still a strong cross wind which the bowlers had to contend with. Wickets fell at similiar rate to Pacific's & 37-3 saw an interesting parity but a 4th wiicket partnership of 87 between Palmer & Lovell took the game away. Even late on Chris Atkin put a sharp one down at cover & Hollman a dolly at point off Tim Vanderpump that may have changed the outcome. Jon Webley's inswinging full toss reduced the margin of defeat but 2 evenly matched sides did not have a close game. The toss was critical & losing it gave TG the impetus that their liklier greater strength in batting depth did not need to explore given the modest target. XI:- Chris Atkin
