Pacific v Crossbats  Regular fixture < previous | next >
Saturday 10-Oct-2009 12 noon at Moor Mead
Won

A comfortable victory on a pleasant if chilly autumn day. Unfortunately for Crossbats the Council has failed to maintain the pitch or pavillion at Moor Mead and therefore the facilities were basic and smelly. The astro pitch had substantial holes at the bowlers marks. Crossbats won the toss and surprisingly inserted Pacific.

Toby hooked one impressive six before lofting to mid on. Hollman and Webley gave Pacific a fine platform. Webley clipped a full toss to square leg just as he was opening up. Tempany hammered 43 including hitting a couple of cars. Hollman fell just short of fifty when he nicked behind. Roy and Atkin both finally found some form with the bat, ran well and ensured a stiff target was set.

Gleadow knocked Wright's middle stump out of the ground and then he and Atkin bowled miserly opening spells against a subdued 2nd wicket pair that pretty much sealed the match. Fuller took a little while to find his line but when he found it the stumps were sent sprawling. Gleadow suffered a crack on the knee at cover which forced him off the field for a couple of overs. Allum bowled a few full tosses but generally kept the oppo bats tied down. The game was definitely done and dusted after the good work of the change bowlers. Haill flighted his slow left armers well enough to pick up three wickets whilst young Hollman struggled with slippery surface underfoot but picked up a wicket. Webbo will be grateful for the fact there was no byes or wides count kept. There were four dropped catches although only Haill's miss off Allum was approaching catchable(Allum made good ground for his catch off Haill)
