The seamers started well and Highgate struggled to creep above three an over for the first 25 overs. The returning Long bowled a fast accurate spell first up. Gleadow was a little unlucky with three drops off his bowling. Webbo was back to his bowling best finding lots of inswing to get three wickets. Smith fumed at inaccurate scoring after a tight spell. Skip Bastin took four catches including a couple of skyers. Roberts bowled a steady spell that was rewarded in the end with two wickets. Moses recovered from a rusty first over to claim three and Vincent got his first wicket for the club.

A fantastic tea of Special Fried Rice was enjoyed by most of the team. Honourable mentions to Hollman and Tempany for avoiding the temptation of fourth helpings.

The Pacific chase started slowly and at 28/3 the game seemed to have turned. Bastin and Webley rebuilt the innings steadily and kept the asking rate below six an over. After Bastin fell, having skyed one, Long provided sensible support for Webley and seemed to have done the hard work. Then Webley sought to finish the game too quickly and fell to a big swipe at the leggie which was in complete contrast to the style and patience with which he had batted. Long perished next ball to one that leapt on him. Smith hit a couple of boundaries before sacrifice bunting Croft to retain the strike (two very divergent views on that run out). Moses took a few balls before guiding the ball to third man for the winning runs with three balls to spare.
