The events leading up to this began when Captain Jeff from Chats rang to say the pitch with a tear was now a bare pitch at one end & while the outfield was wet & the rain held off, we would have a game even if we could only play at one end ! Within the hour & 2 more heavy down pours, enough aquaphobics had rung voicing concerns involving health, safety & dry cleaning bills.

At 11am I got the message on my way to Newington Green to pick up stumps which was then aborted & replaced with the obligatory 45 minutes of calls, texts & emails. Thanks to Jon for his help & doing all to keep the game on while it made sense to.
