We were more than a little outplayed. It started well, really well, with Daryll getting a wicket off his first ball! Awesome! Things rapidly went downhill though. On the bright side it was good exercise though - running to collect the %&*@€ing ball after yet another big six. We were a little unlucky with none of the near sixes going to a Pacific fielder. Perhaps that was the field placing, perhaps the will of the Gods.
We didn't fare much better batting. We knew there was a mountain to climb, but instead were fixated with a ledge we found and leaping lemming like off it. A few early run outs put paid to any chance of us winning. Alas it began to get a little silly when Vallance, realising they had a comfortable victory under their belt, bowled every single man on the field bar the keeper. Every single one.
Next time you see a cat with a mouse - put the little rodent out of its misery. It ain't a great experience.
PS - I'm not trying to save our bowling averages. They are no where to be found due to mix up with the proper scorebook and only having the most confusing scoresheet ever made that fateful evening. |
