If there were such a things as an ardent Pacific fan, any depressing down beat music would have been the tipping point as Pacific notched up a predictable defeat against last week's cup vanquishers. The margin was closer but the VB class was still evident for all to see. Failing to lose a wicket would be 1 mark of such which they succeeded in doing. In reply, respectability was attained in this person's eyes when the margin of last week's defeat was overhauled. Sammy Purcell did all he could in the field with ball & especially with bat. The Skipper said "Batted OK but just not up to their standard. Yes every week of playing them would be abit demoralising. Ups the game though.....
Its really hard to try and field and bowl to an attack like that. If you try and save the runs and place the team around the boundry it takes off so much pressure and chances of catchs and run outs decrease alot. Also loosing the toss was a big blow. With 170 on the board thats enough to cause unforced errors and mistakes from the best of players. But the team played well. Yes Pete (Alexander) found a good line and length, quite similar to James G but without the slower ball and cutter. Lucius was the pick of the Pacific seam attack and was unlucky not to
come away with a wicket.
I reckon we can still beat VB, Sky will be hard but not out of reach."
Next week it's the reigning cup & league holders Sky. OK Computer ! pitch 1 VIII :- Lucius Faisal, James Gleadow, Lahri Mohamed, Ali Pritchard+, Sammy purcell*, Darren Tempany, Justin Roy & Pete Alexander. The club sec will deliver kit, book & stumps to VP on the night. |
