The reigning champions scored their first win of the season with 5 balls to
spare against Rose and Crown in a nail-biting finish at Victoria Park in the
gathering gloom on Thursday evening.
Put in by Pacific, Rose and Crown mustered a respectable 125. The pick of
the batsman was Sean who scored 50 before retiring. All the bowlers bowled
economically including 8 a side rookies Rob Bastin and Kurt Rademaker. Top
marks to Darryl for a quality run out and commiserations to the skipper for
two dropped catches off his bowling.
Pacific's reply started steadily with Murray and Hollman scoring a
combination of singles and boundaries. Unfortunately they were removed in
quick succession by the spinner Monahan but Emmins proceeded to bludgeon
some meaty blows with support from Campbell. These two then departed and it
was left to Roberts and new man Rademaker to score 26 runs off the final two
overs. This they did in 7 ballls to the delight of the team.
Captain Campbell said after the game "It was a great game and I am over the
moon that our season is back on track the all credit to the boy Kurt for a
marvellous all round performance on his debut and also thanks to Dave
Gluckman for playing and giving me a lift home."
