Sadly, not a winning start for Pacific's VIIIs but a fine game played in a an excellent atmosphere against one of the League's 7 new teams this year. Reduced to 14 overs, the outfield was heavy to the extent that the ball was even once temporarily "lost" while in play. Additionally, a wet slippery pitch found bowlers & batters & keepers regularly slipping. So no injuries was a blessing. Allum, Mundie, Hollman & Rees all bowled reasonably given the conditions but fielding with 7 for 5 overs, losing the toss & batting in lesser light all may have made it a closer game. That said, solid contributions from Nimo Ahmed, Faisal Raja & Naz Ali's batsmanship were the true reason which kept Pacific's winning chances at arm's length.
In reply, despite Shane Mundie's not out 50 & a quick fire contribution from the other debuatant James Smith, it was also a required run rate that was never attained thanks to all TC's bowlers & esp seamer Naz Ali who was the most economic. The Corsairs were the better side & deserved their win.
