Christmas Greetings From Oz!
Wed 20-Dec-2006

Just a quick note to all at Pacific to wish everyone a Merry Christmas - especially of course to those Aussies who are probably still celebrating their Ashes win. I had the pleasure (?) of being in the members at the WACA with Pete Czabotar and my father-in-law John Kollosche when the urn was won back - all be it temporarily...

Flew to Adelaide the day after arriving here to catch a couple of days of the test there with Pete and also Tim Marshall. Whilst there also saw Alistair Wright from Crossbats. Everything seemed to be going so well then...

Here in Perth I saw Dave Gluckman and Justin Gurney from the Wash. Sadly Dave has decided enough is enough and is returning home for Christmas - so won't be joining the ex-Pacific BBQ at Tim's on day 3 of the Melbourne test. Also there should be Braden, Leon and Pete C.

My finger is still in a metal cast and so plans of back to back seasons have gone out the window. So perhaps the most noteworthy cricketing moment of my time here so far was bumping into Adam Gilchrist in the local park. He was there with his small boy in the swing next to Jonathan. Even though he thought it was a bit cheeky, he was prepared to sign my England cap - fair play to him! If I am ever President again, the problem of finding a keeper has now been solved!!

I will sadly miss the highlight of the social year - the AGM - but should be back later in January. Hopefully I will be able to liase with Pete H once I have definite dates, so the darts/winter drinking session can be fixed for a day when I am due to be in London.

All the best

Jim
