Lay Lady Lay No not the shenigans on the adjacent lane - but reigning champion Steve's moniker for the night as dubbed by legendary scribe Oli Haill who's own nom de guere escapes me thanks to the grolsch.

In fact Confused of Hatfield was indeed so at one juncture when one of his several strikes were acredited to The Wiz due to playing out of turn. No matter it was all about consistency & his 3 scores all within 4 points of each was that evasive attribute personified. After round 1 Steve's 137 was good enough for 3rd place behind Oli's 156 which was the best score of the night & The writer's 145. The 2nd round top score went to Wembley with 149, Steve's 139 being good enough for 2nd place but only an overall of 5 points ahead of yours truly.

By the time of the 3rd & final round, the lager was having its effect on those not driving & scores fell away. The fizzy mafia helped keep the champ sober & his 141 final round score was 3 points better than the Dazzler in 2nd place & so his lead was widened &Steve in regaining his crown came away with the only over 400 total finishing 21 points clear of Jon's runners up berth.

An excellent social night that I think I spent the whole night laughing. Couldn't recommend enough for those stayawers to put it in their diary for 2008.

1st Steve Lay 417 points

2nd Jon Webley 396

3rd Peter Hollman 381

4th Oli Haill 365

5th Darryl Roberts 343

6th James Gleadow 316

& so onwards to the Sobell squash courts via the greens of Malaga........
