Firstly, big thanks to the core of members & partners who made a dank mid January evening such an enjoyable affair in the such an excellent new venue. Such a better venue than the WL&M for post match sessions too - expect a visit after the Double Wicket in April.

As well as fine food & excellent convivial company the voting for the 4 annual awards were taken & added up. Sadly all but 2 of the recipients were not in attendance for various reasons but James Smith gave Jon Webley's Captain's speech in his absence a truly humourous slant & it was right & fitting that he should receive the award for most wickets in the season.

So with all the awards packed away again it only leaves me to announce the results of the voting:-

The Fielder of the Season 1st ROB BASTIN 2nd Jon Webley

The Tom Brown Memorial Best Newcomer 1st NICK FULLER 2nd Darren Tempany

The Most Improved Player 1st ROB BASTIN 2nd James Smith

& Player of the Season 1st JON WEBLEY 2nd= Rob Bastin & James Smith

Thereby Jon won the POS for the 3rd consecutive year - deservedly. The trophies will be taken to the engravers & circulated over the next few weeks beginning with the 10 pin bowling next Friday.

Jon's speech " Hi All,

Seasons greetings. I hope you all had a wonderful festive period and are now raring to go for the new season!

Firstly I must apologise for my absence, especially as this would have been my first end of season bash as Skipper.

It has been another very enjoyable season with Pacific CC and I anticipate another great season is ahead of us.

There were many notable performances not just from our seasoned pro's but also from some very promising new comers, these included: Darren Tempany, Ben Gibson, Peter Henry, Ali Pritchard & Nick Fuller who all made match winning contributions. Of the seasoned pro's there was a pleasing return to form from Pete Hollman and impressive all round performances from Rob Bastin and James Smith, as well as some solid displays of bowling from James Gleadow & Chris Atkin.

Again, I'm really looking forward to the 2008 season and I will no doubt see a lot of you at nets in the near future!

Cheers Jon.
