The Wray Cr Petition
Tue 05-Jul-2011

Dear Mr Gleadow,

Thank you for your petition. I am pleased to confirm that cricket is being
played at Wray Crescent once again for the 2011 season.

The Council supports cricket and is very keen to ensure that residents have
the opportunity to participate in sports of all kinds.  We are aware how
important facilities such as sports pitches are, in such an urban and
densely populated area.  However, we must also give serious consideration
to complaints received from local residents and the advice of our insurers.

I am very pleased that we have managed to find a way forward to enable
cricket to be played this year.  We have improved the fencing, and although
this is not considered to be a permanent solution, we will continue to
manage the risks involved.  We are actively looking for a longer term
solution, but in the meantime, we will continue to monitor the situation
and to review the risk on a regular basis.
Yours sincerely,

Kevin O’Leary
