Ambulance stops play
Pacific v Homerton CC (PKA Chats Palace) at Springfield Park  Sun 29-Sep-2013 at 12.30pm
Won 113 runs by D/L

- Pacific win by over 100 runs in game reduced to 25 overs

- Fred arrives by boat; Homerton 'keeper leaves in ambulance

- Pacific's spin trio rip through Homerton's depleted line up

On a glorious autumnal day eleven Pacific heroes made their way in dribs and drabs to the beautiful canal-side Springfield park pitch. Fred arrived in his new canal boat, surely the most obscure method of transport possible bar parachuting onto the pitch from a plane.

Pacific were inserted and Sardar and Steve went out to face Homerton's lively openers, who both steamed in and delivered at a decent pace with a bit of swing. Steve was bowled early, bringing Ireland to the crease, who with Sadar saw off the seamers and started to accelerate once the fairly gentle change bowlers arrived on the scene.

After a quickfire 57 Ireland was caught trying to smite the friendly Stu's first ball onto the rugby pitches. It bought Ben le Mare to the crease, who immediately hit some classy sweeps to the boundary. As Sardar looked to hit out he was bowled for 27, bringing Kieran to the crease. Unfortunately the K-dog bought with him some evil, malevolent force, and a few balls later the wicketkeeper managed to break his ankle, somehow landing awkwardly after leaping to appeal for a catch.

Tea was taken early as the poor chap lay in agony on the square.

Although the 'keeper was well and truly crocked - his ankle looked like a melon in a cricket sock - in retrospect he probably should have been helped off the pitch and driven to hospital. "Get up, get up and play the game!" Pacific's frustrated batsmen muttered from the sidelines, heartlessly. The ambulance took nearly an hour to arrive and the game was adjusted to 25 overs, meaning whatever target Pacific set would be boosted thanks some obscure calculations by Mr Duckworth and Mr Lewis.

Ravi (19* off 11) and Kieran (17* off 15) scored quickly after the interlude and Homerton were set 180 to win.

Homerton's batting line-up was severely impaired by the loss of their keeper and the other player who went with him to hospital. However their openers looked fairly comfortable against Pacific's openers Ireland and Ravi, who each bowled short spells of three overs under commander Nugget's contemporary captaincy. It was young Luke Hollman who made the breakthrough almost as soon as he came on, a certain P Hollman reluctantly raising the finger. An excellent bullet throw by Sardar and good catch over the stumps by Aroon did for their number three, and then Homerton began to crumble with many runs still required. Aroon's flight and line bowled two more Homerton batsmen, while at the other end Luke was keen as Hollman's mustard for another and took another two - one played on and the other thanks to a good take by Sardar at mid off.

Ahmed the A-bomb arrived on the scene and immediately blew up in the batsmen's face, his first ball pitching in the perfect spot for a leggie and hitting the top of off. He wiped up Homertson's tail with a further two wickets and the game was all over by half five.
