Pacific Cricket Club welcomes new players
Wed 13-Feb-2013

Pacific Cricket Club are a friendly side based in north London and we're always on the lookout for new recruits – whatever your ability.

In 2013 we'll host our Middlesex & Essex Invitation League fixtures at the scenic Alexandra Park, overlooked by Ally Pally. Having finished last season in second place in the league, we're hoping to go one better this year and be champions.

We also play friendly fixtures at Islington's Wray Crescent (nearest tube: Finsbury Park), where a new practice net is to be installed in time for the start of the season to help us hone our skills.

If you can't wait until then, fear not, because we're holding indoor nets at Lord’s – the home of cricket – from February through to April.

We play against rival clubs at some nice grounds in and around London (click here for our fixture list).

2013 is an exciting year for Pacific. Not only are we celebrating our 30th anniversary, but we'll also be touring south-west France at the end of August.

Pacific Cricket Club welcomes new players, so if you fancy turning your arm over or swinging the willow, please email the club secretary, Peter Hollman, on peterhollman.pacificcc@virgin.net

In other news...

Pacific's fate in 2013 has been entrusted to Ben Boorman, who was elected as club captain at the AGM in January.

Ben impressed in 2012 with his organisational skills while leading the Saturday side. He will replace the legendary Jon Webley, standing down as club captain after several years at the helm.

Ben will be supported by Giaco Bridgett as vice-captain. Giaco, who has played representative cricket for Italy, illustrates Pacific's international diversity and will bring a bowler's perspective to the running of the side.

Ben will oversee the Saturday XI too, although the captaincy is likely to be rotated to give new players a chance to shine.

Aroon Korgoankar will again lead the midweek evening side in the Victoria Park cup.
