A letter from Middlesex Fed of Sport

Dear Peter and Pacific CC

I am so glad you are back with us this season you certainly proved a hit over in Harrow, Peter. We have entered you for the Vase but if you decide you would rather opt for the Cup then just let us know before the deadline, October 31st.

Just to keep you posted: our final invitations have gone out to all FMS cricket clubs and the closing date for entries is October 31st. November 11th is the draw. An attachment is enclosed listing entrants as of Thursday October 17th.

Winchmore Hill have asked if they can enter their Seconds: this will be decided once all the Vase Clubs have been given first refusal. Should this be given the go-ahead then other Clubs in the Cup will be also be invited to enter their Twos.

New rules will be adopted by the 2003 competition organisers taking into account what FMS member Clubs propose.

You will see that we have suggested playing on Bank Holiday Mondays which is not mandatory if both Clubs are agreeable to switch. This is to opt out of the Sunday cup competitions jungle. The final Venue is still to be confirmed, but this year’s winners, Winchmore Hill CC, have offered to host both Cup and Vase Finals on a day to be discussed with the MCB.

There will be up to £3000 in prize money to be shared between both competitions to be invested directly into Colts cricket. The final prize money awarded is dependent upon the number of Clubs entering – it will be a maximum of 32 for the Cup and the same for the Vase.

This season’s final at South Hampstead was covered by LWT News, BBC Five Live, www.capitalcounty.com and many sports magazines and newspapers.

Best wishes
