The best turn out ever gathered at the Sobell Centre just off the Seven Sisters Road to challenge for the Club Squash title on Friday night.

Holder & favourite, Steve Emmins was surprisingly beaten in the opening match against Peter Hollman, but that was his last loss in the round robin as both he & Peter were joined in the semis by 2 representatives of the youth challenge - Matt Callender & Rob Bastin.

After 2 exhausting & draining semi finals which both lasted 30 minutes, it was experience that prevailed as opposed to the near kinetic energy of the twentysomethings. After his semi, Steve said " I had to dig as deep as I have ever had to do " having turned around a 7-9 1st game scoreline against Rob Bastin into a 2-1 win. "But it's getting closer every year & this could be the last time " added the 2003, 2004 & 2005 winner.

The other semi reflected that of Steve & Rob's as Matt went down 0-2 to Pete but the games were 8-10. 9-11 which tells the story. 2 games in 30 minutes. Exhausting!
