Sydney via South America
Tue 21-Mar-2006

It's been a long 8 months in which another season has ended and the new season is rapidly approaching.

Much has happened since I left the shores of old Blighty - Tania and I had an amazing time travelling through South America - tempered only by the news of the series that can never be mentioned!

We are both well, settled in beautiful sunny Sydney (a peaceful, harmonious beachside suburb called Cronulla - you may have heard of it) and planning our September Whitsundays wedding.

I played a few matches late in the season for a B grade team that enjoys the post-match beers more than game itself - managed to carry my late season Pacific form with me - averaged 2 with the bat from my solitary innings but did manage to perform better with the ball taking a few wickets.

Kurt is playing with a inner-city side that plays in a more competitive league, we manage to catch up most weeks for squah and a few beers and we've both started playing football for a kick-around team that again focuses more on the beer than the result - good fun none the less and the club is also home to Mr Steve Waugh, who kicks around with the over-35s.

Pass my regards on to all the boys - paticularly Sammy and his crutches, hope everyone is well and good luck with the upcoming season.

Take care, Martin Cowling

PS I'll be heading to a couple of the Ashes Tests this summer and would love to catch up with anyone who finds themselves heading over to witness the return of the urn to its rightful owners!
