Pacific make it a Tour double
Pacific v Balsham at Away  Sun 16-Sep-2001 at 1pm
Won by 6 wkts

Pacific secured their first ever victory in both matches on their Cambridgeshire mini-tour when they eased past Balsham's target of 91 with 6 wickets and 4 overs in hand. Played on a damp wicket - following overnight storms - run scoring was always likely to prove tricky. A limited overs format of 32 per innings was agreed to ensure a result before the light failed. Balsham elected to bat fists and were soon in trouble as debutant James Eccersley found prodigious in-swing to remove the first three batsmen in an unbroken 7 over spell - taking 3 for 21. With Jim Davies conceding only 10 runs from his 7 overs and Ian Lay bowling very impressively to take 3 for 14 from his 7 - Balsham were indebted to a fine innings of 45 from skipper Lidswell - supported by 21 from Childs. They brought the total to a respectable 91 on a such a slow pitch - before Eccersley ended the innings with a well judged boundary catch off Weston Colville recruit Adam Taylor. Pacific's openers stared at a sensibly cautious pace on the tricky surface, reaching 21 before Matt Holliday (3) was bowled by Clarkson. Promoted to number 3, Jim Davies participated in useful stands with Adam Taylor (22), skipper Steve Lay (6) and Simon Holliday (11). The run rate was always maintained and - despite the departure of Holliday with the winning post in sight - Peter Czabotar hit the winning run with 4 overs to spare - Davies finishing 39 not out. Plaudits must go to tour organiser Steve Lay for arranging everything so well - and to the opposition for being so hospitable. The man himself pronounced that he was "Delighted to win both games for the first time - and equally importantly everyone seemed to enjoy themselves!" Balsham 91 all out (J Lidswell 45, I Lay 7-3-14-3, J Eccersley 7-2-21-3)
Pacific 92-4 from 28 overs (J Davies 39*, A Taylor 22)
