A Tale of Two Pitches
Pacific v Old Fallopians at Victoria Park Pitch 1  Thu 04-May-2006 at 6.30pm
Won 4 wickets

The match was prefaced by chaos, started in disaray & despite Old Fallops being the first to settle, it was the unflappable see-in-the-dark Aussies, Alex McKillop & Adam Willis, who made sure Pacific's superlative record against Old Follops remained unblemished

To begin with, Old Fallops arrived with just a single set of stumps & despite seperate search parties failing in finding a second, the match began on pitch 3 with just the one ! Enough time though as an obviously distracted Peter Hollman to drop top scorer Richard (32*) when on nought.

After 2 overs, the match was unusuallly moved (to pitch 2 )which was now vacated by the VP Juniors & one which ordinary stumps could be planted. Perversly however, the Captains agreed to continue on the same score rather than start afresh, but more worringly, little account was taken of a sunset due 75 minutes later. As it was this did however turn out a good call, as the match was reduced to 14 rather than the recommended 10 & despite the dark, Alex McKillop & Adam Willis were able to see off the Fallops' change bowlers.

Earlier, Stebbins & Richard hads settled well for OF & despite Conrad changing his bowlers around they built the foundation of what was considered to be a usefull total. In reply, Man of the match Alex Mckillop held the batting together & adapated well to the failing light. Useful partnerships with Captain Chandler of 43 runs for the 1st wicket & an unbeaten 4th wicket with debutant Adam Willis of 58 runs saw the Islington side home.

Good for CC to notch up another win despite Fallops having run it closer than in recent years but plenty too for the Skipper to think about ahead of the double header against Masiha next week. A good sign then of a side not playing well but still winning

VIII:- Conrad Chandler, Adam Long, Rob Bastin+, Peter Hollman, Jon Webley, Alex McKillop & Richard Gaffin & Adam Willis.
